CCS announced winners of our four annual Community Impact Awards at Awards Lunch ’26, held at Elley-Long Music Center on April 30th. Through nominations from our community, four well-deserved awards were presented, each reflecting the legacy of CCS:
The Joyce Lawrence Award for Belonging recognizes outstanding contributions to community and inclusion. Joyce Lawrence was a founding family member of CCS, and her son Jeff was part of CCS from its earliest days.
This year’s recipient is CCS Direct Support Professional, Rachael Brock.
The Pauline O’Brien Award for Essential Supports recognizes exceptional contributions in home supports. Pauline “Polly” O’Brien, along with her son Kevin, created a home environment where her son Sean could be supported with independence, dignity, and deep family connection.
This year’s recipient is CCS Shared Living Provider, Randy Sightler.
The Theresa Villemaire Award for Participating honors outstanding contributions to community-based employment. Theresa Villemaire was involved with CCS since its founding in 1967 and was a tireless advocate for inclusion, including her work to pass “Bill’s Bill,” ensuring the right to a high school diploma for all Vermonters.
This year’s recipient is CCS Community Partner, Vermont Flight Academy.
The Dottie Fullem Award for Advocacy recognizes individuals whose work has helped cultivate a more inclusive community. Dottie Fullem was a founding board member of the Champlain Sheltered Workshop and a lifelong advocate for community-based alternatives and inclusion. Her advocacy helped shape a more inclusive developmental services system in Vermont.
This year’s recipient is Champlain Voices President, David Frye.
Congratulations, and thanks, to all winners!
