PGLL Summer '24 Newsletter
A Summer of Adventure!
There’s nothing like summer in Vermont. We wait all year for the chance to swim and fish in Vermont lakes, eat creemees on warm summer evenings, and drive around with the windows down.
Our PGLL Campuses made the most of the summertime months by exploring our great state. We visited working farms, tended community gardens, experienced cultural celebrations, and more!

The Show Must Go On!
The Lamoille Community Learners visited the Hyde Park Opera House in July. The class got a backstage look at the set of the Lamoille County Players upcoming production, Matilda.
Arrows Aflame
The Colchester Campus attended the Shooting Fire Ceremony with Alnobaiwi at the Abenaki Village in Ethan Allen Homestead to celebrate Skweda paskhôzik, the midsummer solstice. They packed small bags with herbs & sweet grass that were placed into a large fire. At solar noon, flaming arrows were shot toward the sun to carry good wishes to the sky. What a great opportunity to learn from Vermont’s Abenaki community & celebrate the “official” turn to summer.
Some of the amazing places our PGLL participants visited this summer:
The Sheep Shop in Woodbury
Coventry Falls Alpaca Farm
The Mini Farm in Milton
The Hyde Park Opera House
The Fairbanks Museum
The Ed Weed Fish Hatchery
Cady’s Falls Botanical Gardens
Burtt’s Apple Orchard
The Statehouse in Montpelier
