Our History

Champlain Community Services, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, formed in 1967 and incorporated in 1973.

In 2002, CCS closed its sheltered workshop (the last such work center in Vermont) and converted to community-based, individual support services.

Now, CCS focuses on supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in four main areas:

  • Improving supported employment services that support individuals in obtaining and keeping competitive jobs in the community, as well as supporting individuals in volunteer community activities;

  • Providing community supports to ensure our consumers access to, and experience and enjoyment of, the many and varied social, cultural, recreational, and experiential resources our community offers;

  • Expanding the number of individuals for whom home and shared living supports are provided; and

  • Refining our focus to provide the necessary school to work transition supports to youth and young adults.
